About the Trainer

Casey Jo (age 7), brother Chad and Duke.                    Sure do love grandpa, but getting on would have been easier if he hadn't of roached Duke's mane!

Though Casey's parents were not horse people, they saw her passion for horses and with the help of grandparents, Casey got her first horse at the age of 5.  Her dream, as far back as she can remember was to be a horse trainer.

In 1993, Casey got her 3rd horse Blackie.  Blackie was no ordinary horse.  Casey and Blackie did everything together.  Blackie was a jack of all trades, master of a few.  The pair began competed in gymkhana in 1994.  With no prior barrel training the team started out slow, but by 1998, the countless all-day CSHA gymkhanas had paid off and they were rated Division I.  Casey competed high school rodeo on Blackie, she team penned on him, he jumped big jumps under English tack, she roped, you name it, they did it together.  Still rated a Div.1 horse at the age of 21, Casey sold Blackie to the next young girl who would be able to learn the ropes and cherish many great horsy memories of her own.

Since then, Casey has owned dozens of horses.  She has not been without at least 2 or 3 horse of her own at any given time, each horse teaching her something new about the equestrian industry.  Casey attended California State University, Chico and graduated in 2005 with a BA in religious studies and a minor in psychology.  Over the past ten years, Casey has been fortunate enough to work for a few great trainers.  She tries to ride in and/or audit all clinics made available to her that her training program will benefit from.   Here is a list of just a few:

*Ridden in multiple Buck Brannaman 5 day colt starting and horsemanship clinics

*Ridden in the Californios 3 day traditional horsemanship and ranch roping clinic with Dave Weaver and Gwynn Turnbull Weaver

*Ridden in one of Jerry Tindell's 3 day colt starting and horse and mulemanship clinics, as well as attended a few prior to riding with Jerry.

*Attended 2 three day clinics with Jimmy Wofford

*Attended Stacey Westfall ground work, bridleless riding, and reining clinic

*Attended Clinton Anderson 2 day horsemanship clinic

*Attended Ed and Martha Wright 2 day barrel racing clinic

Casey is confident in what she does, but always open minded to hearing new ideas, thoughts and suggestions.  You can never stop learning, especially in the horse business.
